Thanks to all who have responded to my question. Ok this is kind of weird, I do not have an explanation for what I am about to describe, maybe someone will. As you know, my issue is downgraded resolution while watching regular DirecTv programming on my Samsung Smart TV, which is functioning as an RVU client to my Genie receiver. Last night I was watching a game on ESPN on DirecTv, and the screen resolution was clearly not 1080. After the game, I connected to the Samsung Smart Hub and selected Netflix and chose a program to watch. At first the screen resolution was probably the lowest quality possible that the Samsung can deliver. But gradually the screen resolution began to automatically adjust until it got to maximum resolution, a gorgeous picture on screen. Then when I switched back to DirecTv programming, the screen stayed at maximum resolution, while it had been at a lesser resolution before tuning in to Netflix. I tuned to several DirecTv channels, all displaying beautiful 1080 resolution the rest of the evening. Then this morning, after turning the TV on, the screen was back to the degraded resolution. After tuning back in to Netflix however, the resolution switched to 1080 for DirecTv. Any ideas about what is going on? Thanks.
