With just one Receiver it will be just about impossible for you to troubleshoot this yourself. Most likely you simply have a direct coax cable connection from the dish to your Receiver, and the problem could be a defective Receiver, a defective dish, or a cable/connector problem. Best to call DirecTV for a service visit. It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan, or within 90-days of installation. Otherwise it's ~$50.
