When we moved into our home 2 1/2 years ago we had Directv receivers installed in the LR (DVR) and 3 bedrooms (standard). The techs ran cables in all rooms at that time. No installation fees incurred. FAST FORWARD>>> We are eligible for upgrades so we agreed to Genie HD Whole home DVR system with Genie Mini's in bedrooms. Set up appointment with understanding that there would be only a $49 charge for the 5th receiver (Genie Mini) we are adding to an additional bedroom. So today, tech shows up and informs us we need a new dish... fine. Charges us $75 to place it on a pole because the mount on our rooftop dish was not compatible.. ok, I'll buy that.
Once he finally makes it into the house to set up in each room he tells me he will have to charge me $49 to run a wire into the 5th bedroom. Umm... I wasn't told of any installation fees so I log onto my DTV account to look over the itemized list of services on my service call history. He quickly tells me "Don't worry about it ma'am, I'll run the line at no charge" - okay, I'm game for that.
after EIGHT HOURS of whatever he was doing he inform us that the main TV in the living room is working fine, as is the new line he put into the 5th bedroom. However, he says, the other three bedrooms are not getting signal and need new cables. He has literally been at my house from 11 am until 8:30 pm and now tells me he has to come back tomorrow because it is late and about to rain and he will have to run the new lines tomorrow. It may be him or it may be a supervisor but someone will come sometime tomorrow to put in the three new lines... he thinks it might be him but if not the new tech may want to charge me for each line.... the TVs worked fine before he touched them. Why do they need new lines now? Why would I be charged for it?
Does this sound fishy to anyone else or am I just being cheap?
Also, I logged on the my DTV account to see if there was any mention of needing to finish the appointment, maybe an estimated time of arrival... NOPE. The appointment is closed out - as in completed? Is anyone even coming out to my house tomorrow? UGH
