Here was the prompt reply from Amphony,
Hi Bryan,
Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done about interference from
other wireless devices operating on the same 5.8GHz frequency band.
If you can get enough separation between the two devices it
will work, but that's usually not an option. Sometimes other wireless
devices such as computer routers can be set up to operate on 2.4GHz
only etc. I don't believe that the Direct TV wireless Genie can be set up
to operate on a different frequency. Personally, I would rather have
the wireless headphones
than a satellite box that is wireless. Most houses these days are wired
for cable
and any room that isn't can usually easily be wired for free from the
satellite
provider.
5.8GHz frequency is used because of the quality and speed of the signal
and we
were using this frequency before the Genie was around, so it wasn't us that
started using the same frequency as someone had suggested.
Sometimes you have to prioritize what's really important to have as
wireless and
what devices really aren't necessary to have wireless or what can be
used on
different frequencies.

I have moved the transmitter around and found it reasonable for the most part in living room but the original range is a thing of the past. The best scenario is unplugging of the bridge, works every time then.............

Amphony went to 5.8 a few years ago, probably one of few if any that have true digital input (optical connection that I use) then wireless to headsets. They have ~100' range, I can walk outside and get the mail still listening to Farscape if need be. Great for the house, I can listen as I work ( read dishes) and not feel as guilty for sitting wasting away my time..... Looks like my best recourse will be the unplugging. I will email Amphony but I imagine they will say the same thing. Both say must except interference from elsewhere or whatever. I was just hoping someone would have a silly stupid solution like wrap aluminum foil around cats head or some such thing......
Will post Amphony reply if/when I get one.

Probably not much you can do. You can't change the WiFi frequency, and you probably can't change your wireless headphone frequency. I'm surprised that these headphones use the same frequencies as WiFi because there are other more dedicated frequency bands those typically use that won't interfere with 5.8GHz WiFi signals. The easiest fix would be to get different headphones that don't use the 5.8GHz band.
