For months I have been trying to isolate the root cause for our internet connection speed being slowed to that of dial up days. All I missing is the irritating sound of an old AOL modem. Today I tested the ping with everything connected and received a 308.... Disconnected the small internet box connected to the main DVR unit and retested and it came down to a 120. Went a step further and disconnected the SWM device and pinged at 60. Viola, internet speeds that actually allow for the kids online gaming, streaming video on tablets, and all of those other internet wonders we've grown to miss. Is there any way to have the best of both worlds? Good internet speeds and whole home service? Also, we totally lose internet connection when it rains as well.... I'm guessing because the rain interferes with Directv reception?
