Huh??? Call DirecTV back immediately. This installer didn't know what he was doing. There's absolutely NO reason to run an extension cord to power the dish. The dish's power supply can be easily installed indoors near one of your DirecTV Receivers/DVRs. And I don't think there should be an extra charge for mounting the dish on your patio awning (assuming, of course, that there's a clear line of sight to the satellites from that location).
