Sound not working after watching recordings

I upgraded to the Genie system about 2 months ago and at that same time I bought a new tv and soundbar (both are vizios).  Since then, about 50%+ of the time after watching a show/movie we have recorded, when the tv goes back to "live" tv, the sound stops working.  I have to turn everything off and back on to get the sound working again.  Of course with the soundbar, I have the TV speakers off and I've tried turning them on when the sound is not working and there's no sound from the tv speakers as well.  This is why I believe the issue is with the DVR and not my tv or soundbar.  I've only had this issue with the main Genie DVR and not the minis but we rarely watch our recordings in other rooms off of the minis.

 

I never had this issue with my previous receiver and tv.

 

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated...
