I meant to say I do not pay for HD. The only other box in the house is a normal receiver and not a HD or DVR. I wanted to hook up just the sd but could not figure out what cords with out the co ax on the back like my old receiver so I used a hdmi cord but the picture is horrible and I have the black bands on the top and bottom. I have tried changing all the tv options for view but none of them help. They sent me a b band but I do not think that would help anything since I do not pay for HD. It did not even come with instructions. Oh and I tried one of those cords that has the red white and yellow plug in but it did not work. All of the inputs did not show anything or get a signal with that cord hookup.

is black bands on top and bottom caused by hdmi
reply from litzdog911 in DIRECTV Receiver Technical Support & Troubleshooting - View the full discussionThe R22 is actually an SD DVR, not an HD DVR. What other DVR/Receiver models do you have?
