The HR44 has a faster processor chip but how much faster then the HR34 is unknown, at least to me and it is smaller and has an external power brick.

The RF on the HR44 uses different technology (not necessarily better). And the HR44 is much faster, smaller and seems to have less software issues. (I have had both the HR34 and the HR44).
