ive had the genie hd dvr for a year now i went to set the recorder and i got "dvr service is not activated" but it it active it wont let me record or watch please help college football games need...

With one recording scheduled, and both TVs on. (1 main, 1 client) it prompts me that I must change the channel to allow upcoming recording to be recorded.

The DVD Player shouldn't have anything to do with your DirecTV equipment. It should be connected to its own video input on your HDTV or Surround Receiver. That's the input you need to select.
