Re: ipad app nhl center ice : wrong channels for hd

While goofing around with my stuff it seems like they're programmed to just type in the channel number with no dashes(since hiding sd duplicates usually makes this a non-issue). So it does this for every channel. I tried a center ice channel and it took me to the SD one but when I tried the regional channel it was on then it took me to the hd one since the sd is hidden on my guide.

I have SD duplicates hidden.

yes, if it shows the regional channel in the Watch TV drop down, it may work. But often, it shows the 7xx Center Ice channel, and this it whats wrong. If you go to the guide and look at the Center Ice channels, the descriptions say HD, but tuning to the channel takes you to the SD channel since the dash one channels aren't even available in the guide

No you need the power supply that is made for it, you can find it at solidsignal.com.  The receivers power the DECA home adapters that is the same thing without the power supply and you can't put a DECA BB inline but you can use a 2way splitter if you don't already have an 8way splitter to add it to any receiver if you can't get a coax or Ethernet cable to the SWM splitter.

Re: Sound Cuts Out Intermittently

I am having the same issue on my replacement Genie after only having it for about 4 months. I already went through the problem of having the Genie replaced and lost shows on the DVR. Apparently a known issue already even with the replacement with pixelated recordings....waiting for that fix. But I have 2 other older recorders...neither are having recording issues. I almost wish I had a 3rd OLD style recorder. This sound is now starting to cut out, just started happening over the past few weeks. Maybe the supplier is not reliable.

If I have to replace the DVR a third time I am going to scream because I lost a LOT of recordings when I had to replace it the 2nd time and now I have a LOT of new unwatched shows. Maybe DirecTV can allow those with this issue to use 2 Genies.....or maybe they find a reliable replacement. Please. This is getting ridiculous and I do know they are working on problem #1 but now problem #2 is the sound cutting out. Maybe get a good TIVO machine? Fingers crossed....might have to go to Comcast if not resolved by later this year.

Not recording seasons?

So today I come home and all of my shows on fox haven't recorded. I look in the to do list and more shows later this week are all not set to record.

Gotham, Sleepy hollow, hells kitchen are ones I've noticed. All on fox. Any ideas why this is? When I try to go manually set it to record hells kitchen thursday it won't let me. When I go into the episode it comes up with another show that has nothing to do with hells kitchen and I guess thats why its not marking for recording.

I did just reboot hoping something would change and it decided to "rebuild scheduler list" which I haven't seen before but I don't know what this means.

Thanks in advance guys.

Hr44-500 with the latest software as of a few weeks ago. Just to see if maybe tomorrow morning I wake up and it's back to normal I did a software reload and cleared the guide data. Weirdly after that reboot I lost almost my whole todo list other than 5 shows. Ironically. The fox shows. Hopefully it comes back for tomorrow night.

It will take a day or two to rebuild the guide data and any programs set to record will and it is a waste of time forcing a download as in most cases you are downloading the same version you already have and in the worst case you will download beta testing software that could cause all sorts of problems.

But why did it loose before? It only lost a few than after the reboot because it was having a couple issues it cleared them all. After this first reboot guide data and all didn't get removed. Nor did I force a update this first time.

You may have to have a tech out to install that if the room is not connected to the multiswitch outside.  OR you can run your own RG6 cable and connect it to where the other room once connected to said multiswitch.

What models are your DirecTV Receivers/DVRs?

What type of satellite dish do you have?

The whole system was installed less than 2 months ago.

Here's the equipment I have. The HD DVR that is listed in Family Room would be relocated to Bedroom- the Genie Mini in the bedroom would be relocated to the Family Room. The 2nd Family Room mini is actually the Office. I am not sure on the dish type, as it's up on the roof.

My receiver was exhibiting the same symptoms, so I tried the CLEARMYBOX suggestion.  The receiver seems to be working OK now (knock on wood).

It should be an easy swap ....

  1. Remove the HR44's AC power
  2. Disconnect the coax cable connected to the back of the HR44's SAT INPUT
  3. Disconnect the ethernet cable from the HR44
  4. Remove the bedrooom Genie Mini's AC power
  5. Disconnect the coax cable connected to the back of the Genie Mini
  6. Move the HR44 to the bedroom and connect the HR44's SAT INPUT to the satellite coax cable
  7. Connect the new ethernet cable between the router/modem and the HR44's ethernet jack
  8. Power up the HR44
  9. Connect the Genie Mini to the Family Room satellite coax cable
  10. Power up the Genie Mini

..also if rooms are not so far, you can leave receivers in the same room and conect HR44 to the internet via WiFi.

JCallip's suggestion tends to support a discovery I made last night:

When you have your DirecTV receiver connected to the internet behind a router, most of the documentation available just says that you need to open up the STB Services and Audio Services ports listed in (Menu -> ....setup -> system setup -> network setup -> Advanced) and point those ports to the IP address for your DirecTV receiver. With this setup, On-Demand content was constantly buffering and pausing. I discovered another post that pointed to opening the L2TP port (UDP 1701) and forwarding it to your DTV receiver as well. Once I did so and restarted my receiver, I saw a HUGE difference in performance getting on-demand content. If you're having issues, you may wish to try this as well!

Since L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol) is primarily used for VPN connectivity, I'm guessing that opening the port allows the DirecTV receiver to connect to the inside of DirecTV's network rather than outside over the network.  In JCallip's case, he's not using a router (no ports need to be forwarded) and the DirecTV receiver has direct access to the internet through the cable modem.

Hope this helps others!

Mike
